Last month, the United States Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement conditionally approved Shell's plan to drill up to four wells in the Beaufort Sea next summer. If the company gets final approval, it will be the first offshore drilling project in the Arctic Ocean since the BP oil spill disaster. Many environmental groups are concerned. APRN's Lori Townsend recently sat down with BOEMRE director Michael Bromwich and Alaska office director, Dr. James Kendall to talk about the plan and the controversy.
