People in Resolute, a community in Canada's eastern Arctic territory of Nunavut, will not run out of fuel, says the territory's Minister of Community and Government Services.
This is despite a fuel spill in the community of last week, when about 87,000 litres of gasoline leaked from the tank farm.
Lorne Kusugak says that amounts to about 25 per cent of the community's entire supply.
"We will monitor it and if it looks like we will run short, I will make sure they have adequate gasoline," he said.
Kusugak says the tanks were full at the time.
The cleanup is expected to take a couple of weeks. The RCMP is still investigating the spill.
About 300 people live in Resolute.
