It will spend two years at the helm of the intergovernmental forum promoting cooperation, coordination and interaction among the world's eight circumpolar nations.
Reporter Lynn Desjardins, from Radio Canada International's show The Link, explores the issues, including the Arctic's oil and gas resources, its changing environment and the effects on the Aboriginal peoples who live there.
